What We Do

Executive Coaching

Today’s business executives face greater pressure than ever. Top executives who feel that they can handle it all by themselves are more likely to burn out, make poor decisions or make no decisions — potentially resulting in significant loss of business opportunities, employee talent, and financial resources. However, executive coaching is more widely accepted and utilized than ever before…and for good reason. With the right coaching partner, executives can quickly grow and develop themselves, and address any number of professional and personal challenges and opportunities.

  • Our approach enables lasting improvement, while also helping executives address “What’s hot now!”
  • Whether contemplating the long-term direction of the company, working on key business initiatives, considering a difficult employee situation, or handling the pressures of the job, anything is “fair game” for the executive to discuss with us, as a coach and trusted advisor.

Evaluating Leadership Teams and Improving Team Performance

An organization’s leadership team sets the course and champions the efforts that ultimately result in long-term viability and success or missteps and failures. Whether leadership is performing well or struggling, there is always room for improvement. Common challenges include poor team dynamics, lack of trust, ineffective communication, fear of conflict, misaligned objectives, and lack of focus – to name only a few.

  • No other employees impact every aspect of the company like the leadership team does. This special group of leaders must work together extremely effectively, or suffer the consequences.
  • Contact us to discuss what’s involved in assessing how well your leadership team is performing and identifying where some improvement opportunities exist.

Developing and Operationalizing Strategic Plans

If you’re familiar with the saying that “culture eats strategy for lunch,” then you might surmise that having a strategy for your company isn’t very important. But this is far from the truth. A rudder-less organization may not crash upon the rocks, but it certainly won’t live its purpose, progress toward its goals, or operate nearly as effectively as it would if it had a clear strategy and direction.

  • Keep in mind that a strategic plan is not a set-it-and-forget-it instrument, but rather a dynamic (“living and breathing”) document that guides decision making and helps marshal resources.
  • We can help you understand why having a well-thought out strategy should be a critical part of an organization’s long-term plan for success and sustainability and why, even with the best of intentions, strategic planning efforts still often fail.

Evaluating C-Level Executives and Other Upper-Level Managers

Companies are often faced with the need to fill a new executive position or to backfill an existing position. However, the candidate search and evaluation process is fraught with risk and ineffective practices; and making a poor executive hiring decision can take a huge toll on areas such as the company’s performance, competitive position, culture, and employee morale. We can help you:

  • Understand how we go “off-resume” in our evaluation of executive candidates, including how we gain a better sense of their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Learn more about our use of assessments (behavioral, critical thinking, motivations, Emotional Intelligence, etc.) in order to understand an executive’s capabilities and what makes them “tick.”
  • Find out how we can help you make the right hiring choice.

Leadership Development

“Leader” is not a title, and the ability to effectively lead others is not merely bestowed upon someone based on their job, their responsibilities, or their position in the organization. Leadership is a cornerstone of talent management and it is a competency that must be continually developed, adapted, and grown. And there is no single “best” style of leadership to handle every situation.

  • A majority of companies either have no real leadership development strategy or apply what strategy they do have inconsistently across the organization. Either way, the actual results are not nearly as positive and impactful as needed and desired.
  • Leadership development needs to be a fully developed, core competency of the company… completely aligned with the needs and goals of the business. And it must be focused not only on current leadership needs, but on the competencies, capabilities and skills that are critical for the future.

Improving Personal and Professional Excellence

Life is a journey; and, as Preeti Shenoy stated in his book of the same name, life is what you make it. We all have so much that we want to do and accomplish but, too often, life gets in the way. It happens to all of us because there are so many distractions and it is so easy to put off until later what we should be doing today. So, if you want to adjust course and get on a better path, consider:

  • What is your level of self-awareness? How well do you really know yourself?
  • What do you want for your life and what does success look like for you?
  • Are your thoughts, attitude, and actions aligned with what is most important to you, or are you sabotaging yourself (possibly without even realizing it)?
  • Are you living your life with vitality and passion, and keeping stress in-check?

See What Our Clients Say

"You have helped me grow my leadership skills through a structured and personally engaging process. Our frequent and brief discussions help bring clarity to challenging leadership issues. You help keep me sharp, and pushing toward my A-game."

CEO, automation products company

"Some of JFD Performance Solutions' attributes include a strong work ethic, the ability to work closely with business owners and C-level leaders, his business acumen in a variety of areas, and his creativity and adaptability. Kevin is extremely professional, results-focused, organized, intelligent and a quick study. He contributed greatly to the growth and success of [our company] these past two years. "

Founder and CEO, research and information company

"Kevin is a strong relationship builder and is never short of new ideas to move the business forward. He is an excellent leader of teams and people and he possesses the ability to simplify complex objectives into actionable tasks. He is very good at keeping teams engaged and stretched in their assignments. Kevin is a calm leader that deals with issues and significant challenges with a sense of clarity, integrity and an attitude that gets to solution. He knows how to bring the best out of people and organizations."

Director, Global Service Quality, healthcare company

"What was said and done in our sessions as well as the individual talks and weekly meetings has had a very positive impact on the team. It has helped drastically. I no longer feel as tormented whenever an issue needs to be addressed. It seems everyone now has a much more open mind and we respect each other's thoughts and perspective which was something I strongly feel we lacked in the past. Thank you very much for all of your help."

Operations Leader, leading manufacturing and distribution company

"Through the coaching process with Kevin, I gained further awareness of the impact (good or bad) my actions, words, approach, and reactions (immediate or post event) can create toward others and how it might influence their bias of me as a person or leader. His approach and style fit my needs, and I loved being allowed to be open and discuss anything, with follow-up on specific actions. I personally would not change anything about how we worked together, as I felt this was the best coaching I have had."

Vice President and General Manager, Fortune 250 technology and services company

"I have gained insight from our coaching sessions from another perspective that I had not considered before. The coaching allowed me to step back and not jump to resolving problems so quickly...learning to understand that a fast/quick decision is not always the best practice in certain situations. I like that you are direct, focused, organized, respect the space, and you frame up the sessions with a clear agenda and expectations. You were able to provide real life scenarios and situations that allowed me to conceptualize how I would handle situations if they happened to me."

Director, state health & human services organization

"I felt comfortable with Kevin and believe he adjusted to me/my personality right away. I also like that Kevin pushed me to think next level about myself and not just the business; they are fairly tied together and I have to be in a good place in order to have the most positive impact on the organization. Having Kevin as a coach conditioned me to tee up pressing issues that could not be resolved quickly during the week, so that I could discuss and think things through with questioning from him."
